Yamaha definitely didn't make an RD500B. The RD600 at the bottom looks like an RD400 (twin) with an extra 200cc pot added to make it a 600cc triple...:)

I was into 2 stroke bikes back in 81 - 82 when I got my first one for the road GSX250 with TSCC

I did a bit of Yamaha aircooled tuning No Stan Stevens but they went well ;) I'd never heard of a 500 Aircooled and certainly not a Yam triple ???

No internet back then (well that us Plebs could get at)

Both of those bikes are 'one off' custom built machines. There are lots of these sort of things about, usually built by geniuses of engineering, sometimes built by muppets. This pair look like they're from the genius school.
I agree with the post above that the triple started life as a RD400 twin and has expertly had another cylinder grafted on. The twin looks like a pair of 250 barrels grafted onto a RD400 bottom end. Both superbly done.
Years ago (mid/late 60s) a guy that worked at Rolls Royce in Derby, built himself a four cylinder, 1300cc Triumph, by mating a pair of Bonnie (I think) engines together. Made a pretty good job of it too. Often wonder if he or it still exists. Think he lived around the Mickleover area of Derby.

Hi doc, the gsx with twin swirl combustion chambers as never been a two stroke, so don,t try to raise the inlet ports.

Yup I knew that LOL

I never had the head off 250 cc DOHC twin with 4v per cylinder

Even worse was my mate's missus' Baby blade CBR250RRR thing revved to 22,000 and it was 4 valve a cylinder

What a bitch to grind them in methinks!
