Hi

My wife has got a loaner 17 plate and fallen in love with it ...............I know, I know :blast still it's her money :D

Seen a nice 2014 plate, will this be much different to the 2017 version - bearing in mind that, whilst she does some mileage, she's not a journo or racer ;)

Thanks for any pointers

:thumby:

Some differences, a smoother gearbox on the 2017 against the 2014 will probably be the most noticeable difference, but all are great bikes, advice would be to get the most recent one your (her) budget will allow

I've got no experience of these bikes except the 2017 GS Adventure model. No complaints here.

Loving it.

The later bikes(2017) can have abs pro, I believe.
Must admit I would love that extra safety margin if I cocked it up.

Difference is about £4000 I recon

You're about spot on there :blast

It's her money ;)

She did really like the gearbox funnily enough, I guess she'll have to test ride a 2014 to see any marked difference. Might try a twin cam hex head as well to compare.

Thanks for all the info and keep it coming if you can think of anything pertinent. :beerjug:

Well she pulled the trigger on a 2014 model - picks it up next Thursday

My poor old 1100 has got its work cut out

Congrats, as long as it's been looked after by previous owner she will luv it.. I've just traded my 14model for a new Rallye, identical spec & they both ride the same, if not the older one is marginally better on steering/handling, I'm putting that down to the tyres..
anyway..
Enjoy..

She's made a good choice.

My 2014 bike had a much nicer gearbox than my September 2016 E4 GS.

And...it was also better on fuel too!
