is there an easy way to make a 'picture album' on a cd-r using pictures from a digital camera in jpeg format that can be easily read on a domestic DVD player.

i know it can be done - but i've tried and it wont play on my DVD - which apparently plays everything. (Acoustic Solutions)

i used Nero to make a 'video cd' - which didn't play - but i really want a set of scrollable pictures.

movie maker in NT doesn't work either.

i don't really want to buy any software unless i really ' have to.

thanks
Phil

Your PC will need to be equipped with a DVD writer....a CD writer will not do the job....

DVD writers usually come with the appropriate software to make picture DVD's....

Presumably your DVD player is connected to the TV for viewing.

Most digital cameras have an 'AV out' cable which enables you to connect the camera direct to a TV for replaying any pictures in the camera memory card.

Personally I save all my digital pix as JPEG onto CD-RW and view them on the PC monitor. I can save over 1000 high resolution photo's on a single disc, and the thumbnail facility makes it very easy to find pix for future viewing/use.

There's more...........

Okay....in the interests of consumer research I've just played one of my photo CD's on our domestic DVD player.....and voila an instant slide show......with each frame scrolling automatically or controlled by the remote......didn't know it could do that!!

So that's an ordinary CD-RW created from Roxel Easy CD creator V5, using edited & unedited digital images from my camera....

So, in short it appears that you don't need to record a DVD, but you need to ensure the CD-RW is correctly formatted & recorded.

Roxel Easy V5 was bundled software with my PC and works fine, but I believe it's also available as a free download direct from Roxel.

PS if you take a look here,it may give you clues as to why your CD-R won't work:

Also if the resoultion of the images is to high the DVD may not play them...... mine dosn't like anything bigger than 1024x768 :(

make sure the cd you burn onto is designated to be read by dvd .. some of the cheaper blank cds will only work on pcs .. they wont play in cd players or in dvd players..

Paul - if yours doesn't 'like' them , then you must have done similar - what software did you use ?

what format do the jpg's need to be converted to for the DVD player to read them ?

the cd'r's i use work fine for music or mp3's in the DVD.

After burning the CD, you will have to 'close' it so it can be read on anything other than a CD-R

Worth checking?
