hello,

just wondering if any of you guys out there listen to FIVE LIVE when out on the bike?

the thing is at the moment i listen to it all the time in the car but when i get my 12 gs very soon i will miss this excellent radio programme. :(

so any ideas which way to have the best the both of worlds; riding the gs and at the sametime listening to FIVE LIVE?

does anyone know if there is a pocket size digital radio on the market with ear plugs? (even better have helmet speakers!)

suggestions appreciated.

thanks.

digital radio

Hi Tigerwoods,I bought a GrundigGRD300 pocket digital radio with earphones.Excellent bit of kit, bought it when I was in hospital last christmas for a couple of weeks, never used it since.
You can have it for about £35 +p&P if you are interested. You need to use the Grundig earphones though as they act as the arial.I have never used it on the GS so I don't know how well it would work, excellent in me hospital bed though:D
Cheers Dave
can post pic if interested

hello frisky,

thank you for the offer. i am going to search google to see what this thing looks like first.

will let u know.

thanks again.

Isn't Five Live broadcast on MW? It seems to be the only thing I can get on my "pocket" radio that doesn't need to be re-tuned after I've gone a few miles.

25 feet wide! what use is that?

Hmmmmm, interesting.

I ventured into the Dixons outlet at Gatwick a fortnight ago, as I wanted to look for a small DAB radio, for use on & off the bike. I was looking at the Roberts one (£138) when I spotted the Ferguson (see attached) for £58. It looked similar to the Roberts; in fact VERY similar, to my eyes the construction was identical (apart from the finish on the front cover). Even removing the battery covers on both models revealed identical moulding inside.

So it was the Ferguson for me - & what a good bit of kit its proven to be.

BTW, doesn't it look 'similar' to the Grundig!!!!!!!!!!!

Is there an MP3 player with DAB radio included available yet? Seems like a winning combination for me if there is. :)

Ralph,

what sort of use have you given the radio on the bike and how would you rate its performance over various driving conditions i.e high speed motorway, city centre.

I tried an early DAB portable, that in common with a lot of the models out there uses the headphone lead as the ariel.

It was fine as low speeds but suffered at speed and in built up areas.

I'm looking to get something soon as I have lot of travelling (read boring M'way miles) to do over Xmas.

Cheers,

Andy

I found these Sony headphones Fontopia MDR-EX71SL) to be very good with portable music (in my case iPod) and also act as ear plugs as they go inside the ear canal. Not to mentioned that they are very very comfortable to use. Highly recommended

They retail for about £35.

Hi guys I've been using one of these for the last 6months dab,mp3 and fm stations frop maplins (£120 but was on offer at the time for £80) in conjunction with a boostaroo amp, helmet bass monster speakers from a firm called equinox.
I always wear foam type year plugs the sound is cristal clear even at stupid speeds. the helmet helps it's a sport integral very quiet. My last lid was an Aria which was noisy but although not as good sound was still acceptable.

the good thing is that if dab coverage is weak in your area you can switch to fm
5live on dab is much better than mw

thats the fella

Looks like an Adapt Perstel, I got one earlier this year, DAB, FM and 64mb mp3 player all in one. Superb peace of kit, no need for ariel earphones just plugged in the Oxford intercom jack and there u have it. About £120 if you look around on the net, come up on eBay sometimes.

Highly recommended

Digital Radio ??????

Whats that then ???

It hasn't got down here yet - too many govt restrictions and red tape and backwards-ness.

should be here in 5 yrs or so.
