Dijon to Calais...

No
They all take a lot longer than you think they will.
Googlemaps will help though as it gives time (under) estimates though it is better than nothing.
set the directions and then pull (with the mouse) the route to roads to avoid what roads you do not like.
I suggest do some motorways at the begining and the end.

Thanks. I'm aware the N and D's will take a lot longer than the A's, and whilst I've travelled the route a few times using the A's, this time I'd like suggestions that don't involve A's. I have more time, essentially, but not enough for a Michelin Green Route option.

I have Michelin Maps and a Zumo 660, but that doesn't preclude others' experience of 'decent' routes in ther area, which is what I'm after. It may not be possible to avoid A's, but I'd like to try.

If all fails, I'll work out my own, but I thought someone here may want to highlight their choice. Sharing resources and all that.

Dijon to Calais

When travelling south I always leave the autoroute just after Troyes and follow what was the old N71 (I think) through Chatillon & rejoin the autoroute near Dijon. Apart from Chatillon there is not much else , apart from quiet roads & good scenery.

I can mail you the co-ordinates of where I exit / rejoin the autoroute if you want them.

Thanks - didn't see your post before I left. Back now, so will try and compare with the route I used, which sounds like a mix of yours and Wapping's recommendation.

Bit busy for a couple of days, but I'll see if I can compare and post up my route here.

Thanks for all the advice - had a great ride back and only 2/3 hours longer than Autorotes, I reckon. Mind you, was travelling on my own and tend not to hang around when on a mission...

Done this route many times and the closer you get to Calais the slower it gets if not on autoroute. Best to just put up with the boredom and pay the toll for the last 100 miles or so and use the autoroute.
