I've recently got my hands on a SPIII. When it's mounted on the bike the screen is very faint how does everybody else cope with this?

Rob

The screen on my V is nice and bright :D

Seriously though, I take it you have adjusted the contrast and the backlight?
I am not posh enough to have a SPIII but some small coulor screens have to be at a certain angle for you to see them properly.
Is it dark when on batteries? or when its plugged in to the bikes power - or both?

The screen is fine in the car, in fact I have to turn the brightness down, when on the bike it seems very faint even when turned to high brightness. I can't be the only one who has this problem.

While I'm on the subject what speaker is the best to fit in your helmet - I suspect that I'm going to get routed down the ridiculously expensive autocom route for this, if so How much?

How are you mounting it on the bike? I find with my Touratech/Ram-mount combat I can combat nearly all screen problems which are related to sunlight. You can though buy (or make) a sun shade for it.

Speaker, I do use Autocom but you can use anything which is small enough to not cause discomfort under the helmet terminating in a 2.5mm jack. I believe Gazza (and possibly others) have utilised the earpiece from their mobile phone.

I never thought of that Andy.

I'll get the scissors out and start chopping up plastic to make a sunshade.

Quick reaction:

1. When operated on batteries the screen goes dim moving to external power source brightens the screen.

2. Had tinted visor and reactolight glasses and could see bugger all in Aus so lifted the visor slightly so that I did not have 2 subshades to go through

3. the strips of plastic (tho touatech do do a shade) seems the way to go

4. adjusting the brightness and contrast does not really seem to help me

5. each person has different reaction to light, so it will be personal settings which apply
