To protect the light I have put a homemade lid in front of it. It's made of 3mm acryl glass, and four mountings made of 0,5mm alu brackets. The alu brackets are held in place between the housing and the removable plastic frame, with just a bit of double adhesive tape on each side so it wont slide. It is rigid enough but not too rigid, if something hits the lid hard the brackets will bend.

Lamp protection

Very neat - it is always a pleasure to work with perspex. No doubt you can buy somethiing similar for 50 times the price from the various accessory suppliers.

Oh, NOT perspex

I read it again and it is 'acryl glass' - a bit too modern for me; Can it be cut, filed and polished easily? (And can you but small sheets of it?)

It actually says "plexiglas" on the label, very cheap, and easy to cut.

I don't know. It will be at least another month before I take it out from winter storage.
