Do I need OEM front sprocket?

Because of the vibration dampers on the BMW OEM Front sprocket does this mean I have to purchase OEM?

I've already ordered a renthal 15T to give it a try but will the lack of these dampers cause me issues?

Hiya Jona, I replaced my front spocket last Oct with a BMW OEM part, 16 Tooth gear which come without any vibration damping, Solid metal, Done a few thousand miles since then with no issues noted,

Replaced the chain and sprockets 4 times using oem parts, it was only the original front sprocket that had the rubber coating and I had no poblems.

Now your next thing to start worrying about are the stearing head bearings.

One more thing ... In the repair manual it says if the chain roller and slider show signs of scoring then they should be replaced? Mine is very scored! Is this common (due to my slack chain before I bought it)

You might get a slight noise in top with a new front sprocket. Thats what has happend on mine but its nothing at all to worry about....Tosh

Most after market gearbox sprockets are slightly loose on the splines whereas the OEM isn't. I'd rather have a worn sprocket than worn gearbox splines

Cheers Micky, I'll fit the Renthal and see what the fit is like. I suppose BMW OEM are three times the price

Nope, very good price for chain and sprocket set..
