I dismantled the ignition switch on Kirst`s 650 because the bike was intermittently cutting out and following some diagnosis the switch was found to be at fault.
The switch contact part with the wires on it pushes via very small pins and sockets onto another part which is at the bottom of the switch barrel.
These pins were corroded on her bike.
The switch is a right PITA to completely remove because after removing the Tupperware (all the panels),the wiring goes from right to left, across the back of the headstock then through a gap in the frame where it is almost trapped by part of the oil tank....you can`t get the multipin plug through this gap,so you either have to cut the wires and resolder them or be prepared for a bit of jiggery pokery.
Mind you,I had to remove the yoke to repair a damaged thread as well as the switch,so you may just be able to pull enough cable through to just work on the switch.
