They are lookin to dedicate Kerry airport to Tom Crean. Does he deserve an airport ? Would you put him along with George Best, Leonardo DA Vinci, John Kennedy, Charlie De Gaulle ...... etc. ?

Wouldn't go for the Tom Crean option personally - great lad and all that but his achievements weren't exactly in the service of Ciarrai. Austin Stack? Maurice Fitz (reckon that'll be up there with any de Gaulle, Oliver Tambo or JFK)? Hugh O'Flaherty might be an option?

In a word - no.

I would put him way ahead of those people. His bravery and courage saved the lives of his fellow crew, Shackleton too should be honored.
I dream of that spike abomination being crushed for scrap and an Endurance memorial being erected in it's place.

I'll never understand why they named Belfast City airport after a drunken wife beater

When there as the likes of Joey Dunlop who raised the profile of here immensely yet was an extremely humble and charitable soul!

Yet they named an airport over that other fuckwit!!

Robin Hood got one named after him and it isn't even in Sherwood Forest

This is very true and it was to much disgust here in Doncaster
Although some say he was from Doncaster but may have just passed through making him a sensible chap !

+ 1 .

I don't hold with this naming airports for people stuff. A good town name should be enough. The only 'named' airport that I can think of that's made it into common usage is JFK? :nenau
But as we know, opinions are like arseholes. :rob :thumb2

Tom Crean was a good man, but he was not ahead of LDaVinci. No politician deserves such accolades.

Definitely replace the piece of pointy shit in O'Connell st with something to honour Crean.

In short, yes.
