Having been assured by the dealer that the Hepco & Becker engine bars would transfer from my 59mu 1200 to my 11tu 1200 I sent them off to be powder coated, very nice they looked when they came back, but they don't fit.

The BMW bars seemed a tad expensive at £251 and didn't look to offer much protection.

So what have you fitted to your dohc,it would appear Hepco & Becker are not producing engine bars for the dohc model, although I may be wrong.

GS DOHC crash bars

I have fitted the sw motech onesfrom NN. No problems at all. However, there are no spot light mounts ( although the write up misleads you to think there are). I have the alloy rocker covers fitted also.

I've got Hepco and Becker bars on my DOHC 2010 GS.

They were bought new from Motobins for the bike. You could try asking Motobins what if any changes were made as it may just be that some of the brackets are different.

Rainbow fitted them for me and didn't mention any problems.

Good luck

Tom

Touratech list the same part number for crash bars for all years for the 1200GS. It is only the cylinder head protectors that are different, so in theory your H & B bars should fit the twin cam.

My stainless steel Tourtech bars lived on my 2008 1200 for 3 years. They now live on my 2011 1200 for the last month without any modification. ;)

I've fitted H&B lower and upper protectors to my 2010 GS, no problem, even with the BMW plastic cylinder head protectors fitted. Did it myself, and apart from needing the missus to hold to upper bars in situ while I did the fastenings up, it all went together, no problems. :thumb2
