:handbag There are IMO far too many people scare mongoring about problems with this, that & the other on this forum. With threads about fuel relays and EWS ring failures etc. etc.
I actual stopped using the site because I just found myself worrying about all sorts of things ahead my trip to Spain.

OK. I'm back and here it is.

THE 08 GSA IS F*@KING AWESWOME.

This bike has taken EVERYTHING you could throw at it. 3000 miles in 9 days. Rain (4 hours of torrential rain), Sun, 40/50mph cross winds, motorways, twisty, bumpy mountian passes and everything in between.

This bike was in a class of it's own. I lead the whole trip and was constantly having to slow down for the rest of the pack ! I only fuelled every other fuel stop (so I could pick and chose the cheaper fuel) AND it returned 50/55mpg.

2 other riders from the group have vowed to take test rides in the coming weeks because they are gobsmacked that such a 'big' bike can do so much that theres couldn't !

If you need to be convinced that this bike WILL do anything, you can take it from me, plain and simple. This is the best bike I've ever owned. :D

This is fantastic news for me as I await delivery of my new GSA!

btw: what bikes were your mates riding?

You are right Martin, they are awsome bikes. I've done 13K in a year, but had two battery's. no complaints, but clealy not everybody has been so lucky.
Enjoy your ride.

Other bikes were 2 x Honda Deauvilles, 1 x Honda CBF100, 1 x GTR 1400.
Only the GTR came close but it had the shortest range (About 160 miles)

The only real 'mod' I've made is to fit a wunderlich 'cruise control' throttle stop, just so I can be lazy on the motorways !

now that your back

Are you a natural worrier ? or just of a delicate nature ?

I have an '07 adventure ... owned it from new since November ... now, lemeesee ...

... heated grips replaced ... they were going cold

... flange replaced ...

... rear brake disc to be replaced at 6k service (1 July) ... it's warped (probably because of faulty flange) ...

... rider seat to be replaced at 6k service ... welded seams are stressed - no jokes about the size of my arse, now :augie :D

... and the rear wheel is showing signs of blistering paint ... corrosion perhaps?

I've never had so many issues with a new bike before, ever :tears (and I have always bought new ... mostly Japanese kit in the past though, see below).

But ... but ... I love this bike to bits! :D

It's a marriage! :rose

Yep totally agree. But there are some known faults with this model (as there appears to be with every model), I know I've had a few, but it doesn't bother me, well, maybe a little. :thedummy

Errr how fast were you travelling? Or more to the point how fast were the others??

To get 50/55mpg you must have been dawdling at the legal speed limits most of the time! :blast:blast

Someones pleased that something does what it should . :nenau:nenau

Well, I don't know about this. If I'm able to ride smoothly on motorways or fast derestricted roads, the fuel consumption moves towards 55 mpg (according to the onboard computer).

The bike is definitely more fuel efficient on fast sweeping roads ... even though they may not be quite so much fun for some of you to ride

Good for you. I havent had any problems with my 07 either (14K miles completed) I do like to hear of others problems though, not to gloat or anything, just like to be aware and am glad they share. Never let it worry me though, i ride this bike the same as any other i have had i can just do more on this one and in more comfort.
Heres to many more trouble free riding miles for both of us and i hope you carry on enjoying yours.

Five months on, are you still impressed with your bike MB?

I'm with Martin 100%
Had my 07 GSA since Mar 2007, I've had so much fun and done loads of organised trips with UKgser and BMW owners. The best trip was probably Off roading in the Pyrenees with World of BMW.

Always loads of 1200GSers and i've never seen one break down!

Did the Irish Boreen Run, two up, this August - fantastic fun, must of been 35 1200gsers running perfectly!

I even did a track day at Mallory Park - fantastic fun.
