down loading maps to gps

iv'e aquired a mapsource roads and recreation and uk metro guide cd i would like to load parts of these maps into my garmin i have a 128mb data card
QUESTION
when i download the map areas to the garmin do i do this from street level so that i can pan down to street level or can the maps be down loaded as seen on the mapsource cd and then let the garmin pan down to street level

the reason i ask this question is that when you go down to street level on your computer the cd kicks in to show the greater detail i wont have this facility once the data is stored in the gps

Jon,

Upload the maps. There is no selection necessary, the map is either uploaded or not. The same detail will be available on your PC and you SPIII - you can access detail as required on either device. PM me if this is not clear....

If you copy the CD onto your hard drive and open it from there, you do not need the CD in the tray. You'll find everything works much quicker coz you don't have to wait while the CD spins up to speed.
