Came across this site via David Nmrod's ride report on his Istanbul trip.

http://www.archiescampings.eu/eng1/

However, I am completely befuddled (a normal condition) re how to download the POIs ro use on my Garmin 2620. Anyone got an idea as to how to go about this?

Hi,

I have used the site for many years and it has been very useful when touring Europe.

You can download the site information into spreadsheets and then import them into your Garmin.

While touring you can search for the sites nearby and it will show you a list of the sites with distance and direction. You can then select a site and set it as a "via point" while riding. It will then take you to the site and if you don't like it you can just resume your journey to the next site.

I have also loaded supermarkets and fuel stations which is very useful.

If you struggle with the download I could send you the files directly, if you PM me your E-mail address.

ISTR that the 2620, if like it's 2610 and Quest cousins, has a very limited capacity for POI. 500 IIRC. Later models, the 2720 onwards, that use the later NT mapping, can take a practically unlimited number. The full European set from Archie's contains 30,000+.

You could download and just add the ones along your route, though Mapsource really struggles with large numbers such as the full Archie's set. Best get only the countries you'll be traveling through and then whittle these down further to those in proximity to your route.
