Dropped my 2720 and broke the screen :spitfire Garmin want £130+ to repair it.

Any better ideas please. :nenau

Build a time travel machine and don't drop it?

Only other idea would be to get another similar GPS, 2610 etc might work, take it to bits, repair using the second unit, find it doesn't work after you've butchered the £120 2610, and then send the 2720 off to Garmin.

Or, buy a newer 2720 and keep the broken one for spares :nenau

Not sure which is the most unhelpfull reply

I broke the screen on my 2620 and took it to Garmin who fixed it while I waited and charged me £15, find someone who lives near Totton and ask them to take it in for you.

Garmin seem to have a change of policy. When I damaged my screen they sent me a complete new 2720 with all the accessories FOC, although I only sent the basic satnav back for repair.

I think you'll find that the £130 is for a factory refurbed (in other words as good as new) exchange. Should come with all the accessories you'd get in the box with a new one and will probably include a mapping upgrade to the current version. Ring 1st to check that this is the case but I'm pretty sure that's what you'll get. Makes spending the money easier to bear as you wont need to pay for the mapping upgrade and you'll have everything as good as new.

On the other hand you could go for a Zumo and sell the 2720 as spares and repair. If you go this route drop me an email at 'red viffer at bt internet dot com' (no spaces) and I might make you an offer subject to me having a discussion with Garmin UK about a 2nd user doing the above.
