What started off as a nice spin home from Limerick ended up a bollox.I came on snow and icy roads coming into Killeagh in East Cork and ended up fired off the bike. There is a couple of things to be fixed valve cover smashed, mirror, hand gaurd a couple of scratches here and there,a very sore shoulder and dead leg and Pride.Question I have do I get the parts myself or get Keary's to sort it out I'm not the best mechanical wise.:nenau

glad your ok mate thats what really matters... I chickened out of collecting the bike yesterday and think It'll stay put till at least the end of this week... mad weather!!

I'd consider buyin the parts from motorworks or someone like that and fixing yourself... nowt else to do over the winter and will save a packet...

glad yer ok

if its bolt on stuff like youve said - easy to do yerself

Oh yes!!!! I think many of us have been there :blast I learnt my lesson a few years ago in the big freeze left work at 3.45 in the afternoon commute from north acton to Stevenage about 30 miles..... fell off 4 times finally broke foot peg just after stirling corner and didn't get home till 6.30 next morning... gonads like ice cubes  and have vowed ever since risk of snow equalls train no matter what the cost as in the long run (probability it will be cheaper and safer). Glad to hear your ok and only the wallet hurt :augie I hope others listen to our tale and do the smarter thing of leave it in the garage hindsight is a wonderful thing :blagblah but if you experience it you do learn from it. There sermon over :bow :thumb2

Glad your ok mate. yes I have ridden in snow and by the grace of god go I! I think its a case of let the train take the strain or i will use the CRV with a bit of 4x4.

Lesson learnt.Think ill have a sleepless night as well to do some more contemplating feeling alot of pain.Could have been worse though thanks for the support everyone.

right side or left side the reason i ask i have a spare rocker cover for the left side i think already gave away my right spare last year to someone who dropped bike a mile from my house on ice ,also there might be other bits around. i am based in the glounthaune area.

Lesson learnt.

I would have assumed that any Fella with any wit wouldnt even think
about being out on a Moto today .
AS has been said , I am Genuinely glad your not another statistic .
But i have to concur i think your a silly ****.
If your looking for Bits , Do assume that Non O.E. are going to be cheaper
personally , i would try , Billy in Hursts , He might even have some
canceled orders in his wee Hide ...

yet you still get the macho men advocating all year riding :augie
PS you didn't sustain major injury look on the bright side !!

Glad you're OK

A patch of ice on a corner and there's no way the bike is staying upright. The best possible outcome is to be able to walk away and have a few bolt-on bits to replace. I'd be buying a lotto ticket .... :thumb2

I hope a kind soul passing at the time, picked you up, brought you to his house, found a right hand side rocker cover, brought you, tools, the rocker cover and oil back to the bike, fixed it for you and got you going again!:thumb2

I think that I might know where there is one at the moment. PM me for details

i rode in the snow and ice back in february to bedford and mk from home. nerve racking i have to say. if the road has been gritted i'll go out on the bike.

michaelk good to see you are trying to pass on a favour, i think i might have to move house as people are dropping there bikes around me like flies.
