Dual Compounds for us Tossers Please

Always a bit of difference to be found between what the bike handbook says and maybe what an individual tyre manufacturer will say for the tyre on a standard weight bike!?
The pictures and text tend to be indicative of under inflation, and with possible inaccurate tyre gauge being used, inaccurate garage forecourt pumps, heavier than normal rider there are too many variables to stick rigidly to handbook, up it just a little. The slightly more wear on the right is usually because of roundabouts and underinflated tyres will exagerate that wear.

As you say, the Mich' Pilot 2 is dual compound and as far as I can tell (as I've just spent a week looking) is still not available in the front fitting which is 'only' available in Pilot 1.

I've run the combination on my 1200 for around 20k now and they are brilliant and give better grip/handling than any previous tyres (last were anakees). In terms of grip it would be interesting to see if a Pilot 2 (were it to ever appear) proved better, but to be honest I'm very happy with the existing front as in the wet it's faultless, especially on the brakes.

The most amazing thing however is the wear, the front has done over 20k, and the rear is only now due for replacement after 15k.

is that not the two up with luggage pressure?
If it's just me on the bike I ride 32 (F) 36 (R)

+1:thumb2 Those are the figures from the owners manual for a BMW R1150GS.

I believe though that Bailey has the benefit of higher ambient temperatures in Malaga and less rain. This gives him more opportunity for enthusiastic cornering:D

What scrapes the road most Bailey?

Ohh yes, take a look at the Metzeler site write-up on the new Tourance, they've deliberately not gone for DC preferring to engineer the tyre belts in suchha way as to provide a similar result. They say!

Not under inflated. Like I've already said, tires inflated as per handbook 1150/2003, maybe you've got a different hand book? To get wear like that from under inflation they would have to be nearly flat, 50mm from centre, think about it. I try & check em about once a week, sometimes forecourt gauges & sometimes my own which I know to be fairly accurate.
I think it's just a case of dry roads & lots of twisties, though I haven't had anything scrape the ground, suppose I'm not trying hard enough :ymca, an Adventure though so a little more clearance.
Tourances must be sold in quite a few countries, a dual compound in this case would scub off the sides even quicker.

I am fed up with reading about tyres that we can't get to fit our bikes.
I want to petition tyre companies to make at least one DC (dual compound) tyre we tossesrs can try.

Yes i have a personal interest in having one, I ride all year round and would like to take advantrage of the new technology and all the safety benefits that go along with it for the winter months at least.

I can't find a DC tyre manufacturer that makes both front and rear tyres for us.
after reading the Ride article on p26 of the Jan 08 issue (strewth how time flies), I have emailed Bridgestone to plead that they make one.
Anyone else fancy joining the campaign ?
Or does anyone know if there is a DC tyre available for us tossers

TRAIL ATTACKS EVERYTIME! NEVER USED TRAILIE TYPE TYRES BEFORE AS ALWAYS ON SPORTY BIKES. I'VE AS MUCH GRIP IN THE DRY AS THE BEST OF THEM AND MILES MORE IN THE WET. I LOVE THEM AND THEY ARE D/C
