Went to try and get a new rear tyre as the OE Anakee III (which just felt wooden in the wet and robbed me of all confidence) had squared off in 4700 miles. Was aiming for some Michelin PR4 Trails only to be told that there were none in the system for some time.

Did however, get a pair of Dunlop Trailsmarts fitted for the same price even though they haven't been officially released as yet.

It will be interesting to hear what you think of the Trailsmarts as the Roadsmarts are a descent tyre.
There are plenty of PR4's at Tyre leader, just ordered some, £183 del.

Basically it is the TR91 with a new name...great tyre...very stable wet or dry...love 'em

tr91 but in a new compound, claimed to give better miles with the same grip

Well they feel great. Tip into the corners is smooth and progressive. However, I don't know if it's a psychological thing knowing that I'm on pristine tyres and that they're not squared off. I need a day in the wet now. Road noise is on a par with Anakees, but the Dunlops do have quite an aggressive tread pattern. Pleased overall.

Managed to eek around 7000m out of these. Overall they weren't bad (better than the Anakee that they replaced). They did appear to square off really quickly. Towards the end I was keen to replace. The bike felt like it was falling off a cliff on corners and the front would get very vague and twitchy all within the same corner but I'm putting that down to the fact that they were very worn by then.

I would have replaced with another set, but the tyre fitter didn't have any to hand so I've gone with Michelin PR4 Trails. FYI from April to the end of July 2016 Michelin will refund you £25 when you buy two fitted tyres in a single transaction. https://myoffer.moto.michelin.com/en_GB/catalog/details/44516/

Yea, I got a £25 card which is still lying in the drawer from last year

Thankfully this goes straight into your bank account via BACS so I can spend it on something other than Michelin...

Cor, thanks for that. I've just found the invoice for the PR4's I put on my bike in late May and submitted my claim. ;-)
