DVD ripping/converting software

I got some dvd's for Christmas which I would like to copy over to my Galaxy Tab2. What software can I use to bypass the DRM software so that I can have the movies on my PC from where I can then copy them over to the tablet?

I did download DvdFab which did work but the free version has a watermark on the film which can only be avoided by paying $35 for the "Pro" version.

MakeMKV to rip from DVD and Bluray. Handbrake to then convert and or compress to a smaller mkv or mp4.

I also use a Seagate 1tb wireless external hard drive to put any movies on to, in fact anything on the computer that I might want. With that I can watch a film anywhere on the iPad

Only on Linux. The latest versions of Handbrake no longer has the keys to break the encryption on windows. As a result you need to use something else in between.

I do have Handbrake but it can't bypass the DRM software unfortunately Cookie.

Dansin, thanks for that, I'll have a hunt for MakeMKV.

Handbrake just needs to use a 3rd party decrypter. install VLC Player and it will use that one. VLC does not need to be running. it works on windows and os-x.

i would have mentioned it, but i posted the same info in another thread in the last couple of days and sometimes get fed up repeating myself

Well, my opinion is paid version can do more than the free version. Admittedly, some freeware can be very useful.However, sometime you just can't solve your problem with it. Then why not spend a little money to save all those troubles. Back to the question, I use the paid version Leawo ripper to rip DVD of a different region I bought on ebay and successful. You can try.

No problem. When you buy DVD films most of them have a sticker on telling you that they come with ultraviolet , which is a licence to download a copy to your device. So just download it and hey presto you have films.

Thank you Steve. Only one of my films has UltraVoilet so I will try that as it seems to be a handy option.

I'm trying out Cookies suggestion at the moment and it seems to be working just fine.
