I recently upgraded my Earth Google program to Plus and saw that it is possible to connect it to my Garmin GPS - EG has a connection bit within the program. I connected my 2610 and although EG recognised that it was connected I couldn't work out if I could upload or download from or to the program.

Has anyone tried this, or know if this is possible. If it is it spells the end to having to buy updates from Garmin. It would also allow you to plot trips straight from the satillite images.

Does any know????

With the free version of Google Earth installed on my computer...

I load some tracks, waypoints, etc. into Mapsource, then I go:
<view> <view in Google Earth> (in Mapsource)...

It loads my stuff into a GE session, starts it up, and zooms the map into my area...

No the satellite photos can't be downloaded to the GPS. Even if they could they would in no way be a replacement for the Garmin maps as they contain much different information. If you can down-/upload anything it would be limited to routes, tracks, and waypoints.

If you mean to download a track from the GPS into Google Earth to have it overlayed on the satellite images that may be possible (I don't know). But you could always go through MapSource as araspitfire describes.
