Can someone tel me if you know of a reliable independant mechanic to service / repair GS1200? Thank you

I doubt it... his forté is with airhead boxers... I have an 1100 and for anything apart from the most basic work (which i can now do myself) fluids etc... he will recommend you go to the dealers...

Of course it all depends on what work you need doing.

The only independants in this area are at pleasely... somehow i think they may balk at the 1200 too... but are perhaps worth a try. They do charge a much lower rate there for 'labour' 01623 810133.

Thanks for the heads up - for a popular brand the lack of skilled inde-mechanics is a puzzle.

I have as yet no work on the bike and hope to do most of the routine servicing but thought it might be worth checking out where to take her if she gets too demanding.....

I get mine looked after at RWH they do all bikes but know beemers they do mots and fit tyres for a competitive price you can find them at 14 clifton street lincoln LN5 8LQ tel 01522523820 they are within walking distance of the city centre so you can shop while you wait

Jim owns a R100 and R850 and knows both bikes inside out.. so the 1150 varients are no problem either - he will work on the 1200 - but I suppose its best to discuss with him what needs doing. If cash is tight... or the local dealerships can't get you in. Pidcocks told me SIX WEEKS!!!!!! at the moment. Then he's well worth considering. I will definitely use him in future for all work that's beyond my skills...

We cannot list prices for all possible work so please ring for a quote. Our standard labour charge is £30 per hour, with the first hour charged at £35 for work within 20 miles of our base at Nottingham (NG9). For work above 20 miles from NG9, the mileage charge is £1 per mile, charged for outward journeys only.
