A few weeks ago I listed 4 or five items and one , with no bids and 5 days left to run I withdrew and listed as no longer available. Ebay now, in their infinite wisdom, tell me that I owe £100 in fees for said item, I have tried emailing the URL of the Item and ebay keep coming back PAY or else  Is there a way to contact the dickheads to explain the error of their ways please.

What was the £100 fee for??

Looking at your explanation of events, I presume it's a 'listing fee' and not a 'final value fee' (as no sale was made)

If it was a 'listing fee', then i'd say they were entitled to it, as you've used their site.

The only way that they waive a 'listing fee', is if your item fails to sell and you re-list, then you get charged, 1 'listing fee' and not 2 on the item.

Am I right............Rob??

If you had a reserve set on it then you have to pay the reserve fee (similar to 'final value fee' but on the reserve value), even if it doesn't sell... presumably this would be the same if you withdraw it.

...with no bids and 5 days left to run I withdrew
I've never understood why sellers do that. Every experienced Ebayer knows that all the real bidding action takes place in the last hours, minutes and seconds - there could have been several people watching your item and willing to pay you good money for it!

Just clicked the link

"Buy it now price £99,220"

Blimey - no wonder they're charging you a hundred quid! What made you put that in?

If your reserve was the same...

"Reserve fees: £5,000 and above = £100"

BUT how do I contact Ebay
go to Help - Contact Us and then select the options shown below in the image and click continue
The next screen will give you an option to email them.

Banged to rights.............with prices entered like that - Rob

They are entitled to their £100 Fee.

It's all in the Terms & Conditions User Guide

Reckon you've lost it and they are within their rights to refuse to refund it, as they're not breaking their T's and C's...............you should have read the small print!!

I think it is easy to get caught out with ebAY fees, especially when it comes to reserve prices and high starting prices. Ultimately you are going to get market price for an item even if you start with a 99p starting bid.

Also gotta agree with the fact that most bids are made in the closing minutes - I rarely bid with anything more than 10 mins to go. Have yet to try sniping software, but am tempted if it gives me a little competetive edge.

However, I would hope that ebay drop the charges as a gesture of goodwill - anyone who knew what they were doing wouldn't have posted that reserve price. Apart from my wife maybe ;)

Another Potential Sticky situation for you..??

After reading the above threads, I think Ebay has got you cold...

But could you also be in for another sticky situation??....

You are also selling a 3 spoke wheel, new about £500, but with a Buy It now for £95.

You have altered the Description to say that a previous winner (non payer) is trying to now pay and claim the wheel. HOWEVER,
as the auction is still live, and if the previous buyer gets his way, you could be in a position where SOMEONE ELSE Buys It Now and insists on the goods that you have offered...but already sold?

2 Legally binding sales to 1 Item?

Could the 2nd buyer insist on the item, rather than a refund? Unscrupulous, down right sly.... but an easy £400 made!?!?! and paid for out of YOUR pocket?????

What do you think?
