HI chaps, im in the poo, can anyone help?
i bought an eepc901 with linux on it, thinking it would be eeezypeezy to remove linux and put on windows, i have
got so many errors , its doing my head in.
would anyone be so kind as to do me a copy of their windows eepc 901 rescue disk?
i dont mind paying for it..
many thanks PAul

it turns out..

In the box is a linux rescue disk, but lo and behold on the disk is a windows list of needed drivers, talk about cake and eat it.
You load windows, then use the "linux"(windows) disc and bobs yer uncle.
I have ordered an 8gig sdhc card, so now i have a 28 gig solid state laptop(netbook), and i can chop and change the sd cards at will, and just put lots of different progs on the easily swappable sd cards, sorted.
i can wifi away, link to the net thru my mobbly, plug in an external usb hard drive, and expand the system to whatever size i want, charge it from the bike, plug in a usb solid state pendrive, the ways are expanding it are endless, you can plug it to the tv, and watch yer films ona big screen(plug on its way(3 quid from ebay), im in pc heaven here.

No disrespect meant but you must be barking.
Windows is crap and every hacker and virus maker out there is writing code to crash it or worse ..........
Linux is secure and very few people try to hack it. Also, once you get into the world of 'open source' software, you'll wonder why you ever thought of BUYING windows and software to run on it.
Finally, Linux is really easy to use - very nearly as idiot proof as Windows.

garmin software and i tunes

does linux match up with my 2610 garmin software, and can you put i tunes on it?
Most of my apps are windows based. cheers mate.

Windows in its various forms is the most common operating system on the planet and is therefore the prime target for the socially and sexually inadequate individuals who attack it for no good reason. Before casually describing Windows as crap, how about telling us what software (real code, not just HTML) you've written. Linux is relatively secure only because it's used by a minority. If Linux is really that wonderful then how about a suggestion for a version of Linux I can download, run on a 500MHz Pentium 3 and comes with a C or Pascal compiler as part of the deal?

try this...

You could try ubuntu, i have heard this is quite good, sort of similar to linux.
or you could try linux, didnt seem that bad to use, it just wasnt compatible with i tunes or garmin.
Ive never had any hag with xp,just use an anti virus prog and its generally ok.
Or for an older machine, how about trimming down your xp install with nlite.??
I have a link somewhere to get a free download, it lets you make your own xp install disc, and lets you remove the stuff you dont want and dont use, like arabic keyboard support, tablet support(wtf), and loads of other stuff.
This little eepc901 is the dogs you know, everything you want in a pc , but tiny.its the best £247 i have spent in a while.and its shock proof.i'm really chuffed with it.:thumb2
cheers Paul.

I know that this is something of a hijack of this post but this is being typed under Linux rather than Windows. Having installed Ubuntu I'm curious as the what the fuss is about. The computer I'm using (a spare, the usual one runs Vista with a fairly fast processor and lots of memory) also runs WIN2K which looks a lot like Ubuntu only much faster.
