Planning a few days in Wales. Riding to the Elan Valley. Have to escape from Ash covered Heathrow. Any good roads or are they all good?? Will be camping to give the new sleeping bag/stove a test. Anywhere anyone recomends in or near Elan valley?

and me

If you see a dark green 1200 steaming around, wave me down and make me a coffee!

I will show u some nice roads.:thumb2

Will look out for you:thumb2 All packed up now, bikes ready. One more (very quiet) shift at the airport to do and then off for three days:roll lucky me....

If you spend anytime further South around Brecon here's another route for you.

Not long back to traffic infested south England:( To the Welsh and their roads .....:bow:bow:bow:bow I had a fantastic time. Worked the GS hard and enjoyed some brilliant roads. Met some Welsh bikers this morning and had coffee at the roadside. Top bunch:thumb2 Beautiful place. I will be coming back for some more next week hopefully. Cracking two days :D and to finish off I visited Devils Bridge, down to Touratech and met Simon Pavey again at the offroad school. Had roads to myself mainly. Thanks for the routes posted. Look forward to trying some more out next week :thumb

Glad you enjoyed it, where did you end up camping.

Nice pics

I really didnt want to come home. I had to get back though as someone opened up Heathrow:blast So with that in mind I headed to FForest fields, Builth Wells
I was the only tent. Only half dozen Caravans. Nice & quiet. I paid via the box in the wooden hut and the owner made a point of bringing back my pound change about three hours later. Am not used to that service/honesty where I come from. That was a nice touch. Stopping yesterday at the roadside & drinking from a stream was nice too. I went all Ray Mears for a bit :D

You could always try North Wales next time.

Fantastic scenery and lanes galore.

Nice

If yr down this way next week let me know and I will come and have a coffee with u:thumb2

I went to wales last Friday to Monday and loved it. went with Plymouth Advanced Motorcyclists. Looks like we covered similar roads.

Me and BigAl were up around there on Saturday and got tangled up with the Caterham 7 club ( and they call us bikers idiots, they were passing us as if they were on a rally stage into blind crests, bends and oncoming traffic and straddling the centre line). The scenery was stunning with the water like a mirror and spotting fish rising to take insects from the surface at several hundred yards away under a cloudless sky.:thumb2

The Caterham 7 club left a hotel near Chepstow Saturday morning and I met them riding Usk to Monmouth - I agree, barking! I was worried one would rear wheel oversteer across to my side!

Had a skirmish with that lot over the Scotish Highlands :flag A group of us were having a look see and kodak moments. Barstewards were badgering me, being tail end charlie and all :blast Anyhow pulled over for a phot and they all blasted past, nutters. I then noticed a camera mounted rear facing, on the last car. I gave it a minute or two, full BTBR lights on and gave chase :bounce1:bounce1 Lovely road when your not tail ending is all i can say :augie I should of stopped and asked them for the Vid. What with me loomimg in the background and gaing fast over them crests. The boys were wondering why I shot off :D:D
