Had a Road King which was Great. Then a Road Glide which had a Frame Mounted Fairing like the old Tour Glide. For long Journeys the Road glde was Brilliant but looked Butt ugly had a stereo though!!! Had it 2 yrs then traded for a Fat Boy which looked great but I never used in case it rained:ymca The Big Glides are fantastic to use in the USA but VERY big when used here. You get used to it but they are quite focused. Nice to think about getting one though:thumb2

Electraglides

Hi

I've got a CVO Electraglide just like Big Derek's and I remember following his issues on the CVO Harley website.

The thing is everything he says about the Harley is true, it doesn't really handle or brake, not that great for storage, fuel consumption isn't superb, for such a large bike space isn't that good especially for the passenger, screen not great, lots of heat from the exhaust pipes, some reliablity issues, heavy, expensive.

But every time I get on it I'm happy and I'll ride it for no reason.

I've also got an HP2 Megamoto and an old Triumph T160, I've had all sorts of bikes sports etc,. I do more miles on the Harley.

Jon

Electra Glide is go - a new Ultra with a few accessories - Zumo, V&H Monster Ovals and fuel/air kit to bring to stage 1 staright out the door.

Cant wait - should be ready to collect in a week or so :JB

The Big Glides are fantastic to use in the USA but VERY big when used here.

They might be fantastic on long, straight, boring freeways in the US but on mountain and coastal roads, forget it.

I had two incidents with Harley riders while riding in California a couple of weeks ago.

In the first, my son and I, on GSes and our K1200R mounted buddy caught a Harley rider ascending Sonora pass, just as he was attempting to take an uphill right hand hairpin. Cue - bump, scrape, bump, scrape - while he bounces off line and ends up in the wrong lane. It was tempting to pass him on the inside at this point but we both made sure we got past him and left him to get on with his struggle, as quickly as he could.

In the second, we caught a pair of Electra Glides on Highway One in Sonoma County where the road hugs the shoreline. The second one in the group, immediately pulled into a turnout to let us past while the leader managed to baulk us in a downhill righthander. Nonetheless we were quickly past and on our way.

Sometime later we were stopped in a roadside gas station in Bodega Bay when the Harleys rumbled in. The guy who had slowed us up walked over and said, "Sorry for holding you guys up back there - I'm really burned out after doing 100 miles today." Since we're gracious, we just said "Hey, no problem", rather than pointing out that we'd already done about 300 miles on the way from Folsom that day.

The guy appeared reasonably young and fit....ok so we has clad in a wife-beater and a DOT pisspot lid...but......:blast

It's beyond me why people buy bikes which have such heavily compromised braking and handling.

You're dead right - you can't beat a well ridden GS :thumb2

Definitely would be the chosen steed for any BSB rider I'm sure :blast

Now think of all the must haves!

Electric Blue - Live to Ride :D

Now you'll have to think about all the further investment you'll want to make in the bike.

Different screen - Cee Baileys, Clearview, Klocklwerks - to try and stop the buffeting.

Riders Claw - if you want to attach you ipod to the stereo.

Exhaust - Ceramic coated headers to try and reduce the heat from the rear header, possibly (Is you bike new or pre 2010) TC 96 American headers ceramic coated (removes the exhaust flapper valve).

Oil - Amsoil 20/50 MCV - engine, Redline heavy duty shockproof - gearbox, Redline MTL - primary

Rear passenger footboards - CVO adjustable or Kuryakyn.

Spacers for front footboards (and rear)- more comfort - from HarleyGoodies

The list is endless - gives the wife things to buy you for Christmas!
