Today after driving to the local store, when i came out and turned the ignition the needles on the clocks went upright almost and the das clock when unreadable, the solenoid made a muted sound and then went silent as if the battery was dead. I switched the ignition off and checked for any obvious wiring probs but couldn't see anything.
i tried again but this time the dash lights came on but appeared weak very dim lights. I then removed the top box and the back cover and took off the seat and checked the fuses - all seemed in order so decided to replace the seat etc. and go about getting it removed to a repair shop or to my home at least.
i tried the ignition one last time and the dash lights were bright the needles stayed where they were and the engine started with no problem. Then i noticed the top box was still off  so i had to turn off the engine and replace the top box, the same symptoms returned after i tried restarting - eventually after a little while tryig again. the engine eventually started.
Does anyone have any idea whats wrong here, what can i check myself? or do i need to bring it to the repair shop?
BTW it's a 07 GS 650
any advice is appreciated

thanks

does anyone know the model number of a YUASA replacement battery for my F650 GS.
I took a look at their current chart, but it only listed the 09 F650 GS model which has different dimensions to my usless battery.

just a quick report for anyone else experiencing these symptoms and wondering about a replacement battery.
When i got the bike home and took out the battery i got it tested and there were some cells damaged apparently. It wouldn't charge either so the battery needed to be replaced. I got a replacement battery the other day, it's a YUASA Battery YB12ALA2 cost £38.00. I was looking for a maintenance free or AGM type but couldn't source one here so had to opt for the wet cell once again.
