Great youtube vid.
Done plenty of Dragons, I was always fascinated by the elephant as a young lad.
I wouldn't mind doing one.
I once got caught up in a snow storm at the Nurburgring, on a ZX12R!
Mary got a lift back to Calais in a Subaru.
I had to follow a convoy of 6 Subaru Imprezas
Not one of my all time favorite rides.

but a good story none the less:beerjug: i didnt find it easy 1000 miles there rained in the dark hours and no street lighting was hairy at times , but glad i done it. glad you liked the vid :friday

The skis on the bike in your youtube look cool.
I wouldn't be long knocking up a pair of those to clamp up to the GSA engine bars.
I did do a long winter run on the GT, high risk to say the least.
On the A75 in heavy snow with only the car in front tyre track to ride in and having to maintain the same speed.
If i lost the car i would have been down.
Road tyres are useless in snow, how were the trail tyres?

This was my trip:

Did the Elephant and the Dragon rally four times back to back in 1987, 1989, 1990 and 1991. Was a bit younger then.

how were the trail tyres?[/url]

the tyres made alot of difference dont know how i would have coped with the tourance . when i first had the gs i went on a ride out led by pw and i remeber going into a lane with a thin coating of pine needles. riding in the car tracks i got to a corner and went through the corner as normal which took me out of the car track. if i did , that tuned me up the front end went a bit wayward and i was back fully focused. i am used to riding trail bikes with off road tyres so any cornering on the road dosent get a thought. but not so i found out on a gs with road tyres. so the tyres for me were a must have.

Three of us are heading off to the elephant this week. All elephant 1st timers.

Metz karoos fitted to the gs. Catching the o/night ferry on thurs. Looking forward to it :beerjug:

forgot to reply to this sorry noddy , thats good going i think ii will defo do the dragon again. @GFJ which elephant is that then . i did here three is one somewhere else. which is the better one .

It was the 'Old Elephant' held at the Nurburgring (there is another Elephant one held in Jan in Bavaria)

It was a bit Mad Max esque at times, but good fun.

Did a days ride down the Mosul and Rhine on the Saturday which was good.

Took approx 1.5 days each way to get there from N Wales. The Dragon is on the doorstep for me so is an easy option. However, maybe thinking of the Crystal Rally at some point.

I think it's a given :D

The camera wasn't mine - it was a decent compact, Panasonic I think.

UKGSer is about as 'social media' as I get. I haven't posted anything elsewhere but I'm sure if you google something will turn up.
