G'day,

Bought some GS2 Rallye Enduro placcy boots and wearing 'em can't depress the brake lever enough (boots won't bend forward and down).
Anyone modified the bike to suit similar issue?

Thinking to cut the end off the lever and re-weld in a new bit so it sits higher...

Anyone done mods to the gear lever also?

Cheers

Hi, do you have the lowered foot rests or "normal" ones?

In normal boots I find with the lowered foot rests it's better for the brake as I can really stamp on it :)

hhhhmmm

normal ones I believe........know nothing about lowered ones....are these an oem idea or aftermarket and where would I look?

cheers

I'm about to mod my rear brake - with road boots I can use the brake but with enduro boots not a chance. It looks like it needs racing around 50mm

Hey!!. My mono has a fantastic rear brake, will lock the rear wheel easily, front is a bit:blast though. The Para ,on the other hand has a "wish list" back brake:rob

Lower Footpegs :thumb2

I think building up the brake pedal might be a mistake.
It's likely to cause problems with the float bowl of the carbs, by having a much smaller gap for your bigger than normal boots to fit in to.

I had a similar problem with Jill having shorter legs than most men. This meant she found it difficult to reach the rear brake. Fitting lower pegs solves this problem without limiting the space between peddle and carb.

anwer on back door!

thanks John and Redboots - looks like I'm gonna try the PivotPegz since they're easily available here in Aus...might whack some on the old Xr600r while I'm at it.

As to the Airhead rear brake thing....it's not so much a brake but an anti-accelerant pedal - providing the hill aint' too steep. In which case it's about as good as applying to stop in writing 2 weeks ahead.:mmmm

I have bolted a bit of5mm aluminium checker plate about 90mm wide to the top of the brake pedal so that my boot is outside the line of the carb.

There is an adjuster for the pedal behind the small plastic side cover

$5- bought a offcut plate 900x150mm , or you can buy it cut to size from Wunderlich or the other crowd for EU 23.50 or some ridiculous price.

However , I am an old left foot braker and still ride a BSA with a RHS change , and I have just got out of the habit of using the back brake - I have no trouble changing gear with the correct foot unless I am braking at the same time.
Not a problem on the Beemer , but the Beesa brake really works and locks the wheel in an instant.

pics and another mod

Beemerboff - any pics of your mod will be good for all to see.

I also found this mod. Reckons to improve mechanical action thus making less travel on the lever.

I fitted PivotPegz but allthough they help they're not a solution in themselves due to the boot hitting the carb intake as it presses forward and down....keep those mods coming!

Went to that mod - the idea is good, but on that bike the angle is extra bad because the pedal is at it highest position, as the adjuster is right in.

Just screwing the adjuster right out will improve the angle a lot.

It will also lower the pedal , but you might need that with the new pegs anyway. And it might be easier to block up the pedal if you dont.

The brake lever enlarger is a slightly bigger copy of the Wunderlich part shown in their GS catalogue - Motohansa has a download availible on their site, but it is a silly price from them.

I had some Alpinestars boots that were like wearing a plastercast. No flex in them at all. Filled them up with v hot water let 'em soak for a while, empty the water out and went for a walk with the pooch. Did this for a week an they were like carpet slippers. Best boots I ever had (sniff) and lasted longer than the dog did. But thats another story:blagblah

I've fitted leases for the carbs

I want a rear brake for those oh feck moments I may encounter on a rally such as a friggin step slope or that drop that Carlos failed to stop for on the Dakar.

On the last Dawn to Dusk (my front brake was also under performing due to tyre mouse gel) there where a couple of really step drops and I need to kill the engine and drag the rear wheel with the bike in first.

Quite intresting when it started on one decent
