Getting a GS - Some have said engine bars are a must. Some have said save your money and get cyclinder guards. Some have said both? Advice on which brands would be great. I've heard Hepco, SW and Touratech are all good. Further is it easy to install myself ? I'm a DIYer but not a bike mechanic. Many thanks.

Just get a GSA and you get it all for free. Well not quite free - but cheapish.
And you get a great big fuel tank which I love.

Sadly the ADV is a bit too big for me, especially driving around London.

Both
Being in the short of leg department:blast The amount of times ,a camber or foot slip has caught me out, The first time was in in my driveway without engine bars and just the guards ,It still caught the pot .
Ive dropped it 3 times with the hepco engine bars on and not touched the pots, including sliding it down the road last winter,:blast:blast:confused:I came of worse than the bike
The best investment you will make to protect your pride and joy
It also gives the bike a road prescence while filtering and a general solidness that pocket rockets dont have

Have they upped the engine capacity? Thought 1200 was the largest:augie

No mate, 2300 is the largest mass production, but if you have more money than sense which it sounds like sense is a rare commodity as far as your goodself is concerned then a nice V10 Viper powered two wheeler is poss!:ronno

Thanks for the advice. Getting my baby tomorrow and had the dealer fix a pair of the black plastic head protectors and will order some bars.

I've never understood why, when you want something hard wearing between your cylinder heads and the road, the materials of choice are plastic or aluminium. Where is the logic in that :nenau
