Anyone know who makes these bars? Noticed the bar running backwards is bent after the small drop last week and looks like it is replaceable,Got more photo's if needed
looks like I owe you one
Just getting a price for the bent bit, comes as a fitting kit, but if too much will take and try and get straightened and welded.
That's the principle behind crash bars, crumnple zones and all sorets of crash protection....it's supposed to deform a bit to absorb the impact.....
If the bars were solid and rigid enough, ALL the force would be transmitted straight back to the mounting points and you could well end up with holes in engine casings etc.
Even a 'small off' can involve some pretty large forces wuith a bike as big as a GS- looks like these have done their job to me.
Might be worth heating them and gently trying to bend them back into shape??
Repeated heating will make them more brittle, but a bit of gentle warming shouldn't, and if you're going to bin them anyway, you haven't got much to lose.
