Does anyone know if I can fit SW Motech engine bars with Touratech Head Guards?

Cheers

Does anyone know if I can fit touratech bars with OEM aluminium head guards?
Sorry to high-jack the thread!

A number of helpful threads suggesting that the fitting of Borg (bars & head guards) may increase risk of head damage. Bars crushing guards crushing heads. Nothing is simple!!

"Borg" should read 'both'.

Ask these dedicated scientists if maybe, they're not feeding you a load of old flannel. At the risk of sounding contrary, I frankly can't see how this would be so.
Protecting components by putting a physical barrier between them and whatever might damage them is all about dissipation of kinetic energy before said energy is transferred to the component.

Picture it: GS goes down on side. Crash bars mangled (that is, take the wrath of tarmac that would otherwise have impacted the cam cover directly).
Head cover mangled and bent (that is, it takes the remaining wrath of tarmac that would otherwise have impacted the cam cover directly).
Any remaining kinetic energy will most likely damage the cam cover and, after that, the head - but both will still be in much better shape than if there were no buffer between them at all...

When I was wiped off my '06 a couple of months ago, the bike went down on it's right-hand side. HARD.
No head guard fitted, but the OE crash bars did a superb job of protecting the RHS cylinder head. I think the sum total damage was a small chip off the cam cover powdercoating.
Without that crash bar, I tell you now I'd have been looking at replacing a cam cover, and maybe a cylinder head as well.
