Engine Gasket Material

Hi all, newbie here, my first post and first GS, a 2107 Rallye.

So whilst washing it today I was taking a closer look at the engine and it appears that at all the main engine joints have a rubber type gasket that is grey in colour.
Is this normal or should they be a paper/graphine type?

Its just a silicone sealant that they use from the factory there is no paper gasket...i know this as ive just replaced my clutch
