Anyone know of any that will fit and don't cost an arm and a leg (eg carbon fibre effort on eblag for about £700 !!)

In another tack, does anyone know if underneath engine guards for an R1200GS / GSA hexhead will fit an R1200R?

Something like this maybe? : http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390547825764&ssPageName=ADME:X:eRTM:GB:1123 I've asked the vendors and they just say "it fits R 1200 GS 2004 to 2012 and R 1200 GS Adventure 2006 to 2012"

Just trying to keep some of the salt n road crap off the engine - not planning on green laning with it :D

Thanks, but £422.52 without paint or go faster stickers . Far Canal - still an arm and a leg for me. I'm from Fife, me - I don't like parting with cash if I can help it :D

Well, if you'd said that you wanted the Lang Spoon, edition......

£253 but I'm not sure how much protection it offers.

Have you thought about one of Marc Hooton's crud catchers....?

I'm sure you could persuade him to do you one that says R1200R on it.

Pyramid Fender-Extenda (or similar) for about £17.00 + ACF50

The extender keeps the muck of the front of the engine, whilst not looking too intrusive.
I find that careful application of ACF 50 helps loads too.

After a hugger for mine, but the prices are shocking. They all look rubbish too, except for the Ilmberger at £230 ish. Not sure I want carbon fibre on the bike either. Mudslings work to a point but not as effective as a hugger in my experience.

Bloody British roads!!

Yes indeedy. I'll get a fender extender as soon as I decide what hugger to go with it to get free post from Nippy N :blast

A pyramid hugger for my 1100GS was about £45 off here I think and worked splendidly. Prices vary from £90ish to several hundred for the R1200R with most between £120 to £160 - WTF ? It's a bit of plastic.

The mudsling looks a bit cack in the photie I've seen, but feedback on the NN site suggests they are quite effective. There's a powerbronze (I think) one I saw recently for about £90 (in the sale :JB  ) somewhere but that also looked a bit poo imho.

A trip to AllYearBiker for ACF50 soon methinks. They did a cracking job on my GS.
