Ok, just read through to page 20 and not found a relevant thread so going in head first

I know these GS beasts are a bit agricultural, odd noises now and again but hear me out. No Pun intended :augie

I've just fitted a NN high wide screen and now with my flip front helmet open the reduced wind noise is letting me hear a nasty noise coming from the engine. Still pulls like a train, Tick over and low cruising speeds are fine but any accelerating and anything above 60/70mph when the engine is under load it sounds like the big ends have gone. I have a full remus system and can hear it over that. Normal? Surely not!

Booked to go "Chuff Knows Which Way Round" europe on a stag do in 4 weeks and dont fancy pushing it home!!

any tips appreciated and sorry if its been covered prev.
Thanks Tossers!

Try changing down a gear instead of labouring the engine. :D

I think changing down at 5000 rpm isnt the answer!!:D

Once its warm it will make the noise pulling away in first :( cant change down any lower...

So what your describing isn't an engine knock under load. It's a plain and simple good old fashioned engine knock. :D

It’s because of your new windshield – you are now hearing noises that were probably there all the time. I went through similar worries when I had installed a large Givi windshield. If you really started to hear that knocking noise only after the windshield change, forget about it.

cerv is quite right. A large screen will often reflect a lot of engine noise back to the rider. If you really want to test this, strip the screen off and go for a ride alfresco - I bet it sounds normal.

Cheers Tossers! Gonna take some getting used to. Might ask Andres for a go on his to compare then i will once again sleep soundly in the gutter....:thumb
