Engine Number

Hi All,

I have nearly sealed the deal on an 1150GS, but it is not registered in the UK yet so I am trying to insure it on the chassis number, so I can ride it to the local VRO.

I spoke to the seller today who gave me the following numbers

Chassis number - 1ZE26669.
Engine number - 22034053.

Do these look right?

They seem a little on the short side.

Thanks for any advice

Cheers

My Chassis number has 17 letters/numbers
Engine number : Not Known :(

The engine number looks correct, it has exactly the right number of characters in it and should just be numbers.

The chassis number should have 17 characters in it and looking at yours you have been give then last eight only.

First characters from VIN are missing. Should be something like:

WB10415Ax1ZE26669 - All GS VINs start WB10415A but you
seem to be missing a character (indicated by the 'x') here.

Check out the GS register for a list of 200+ GSs were saddos (like me) have entered their bike's details - http://www.micapeak.com/reg/bikes/R1150GS

My bike can be found by putting /belch/ in the search string window. Or you can simply list bikes by VIN, date, mileage etc.

http://www.bmw-z1.com/VIN/VINdecode-e.cgi

The above site gives you a proper decode of the last 7 digits of the VIN.

Chassis number ZE26669
Vehicle code 0415
Series K80
Model R1150GS
Body type OTHER
Catalog model ECE
Production date 2001 / 06
Engine
Transmission
Steering
Catalyzer YES

Assuming it is correct you are being offered a bike that is nearly 2.5 years old (if it is a used bike then you probably know that already!). I checked it with my bike's VIN and it got the production date correct - November 2002.
