The finish is starting to fail on the underside of the engine I plan to get the old coating of and repaint it. Has anyone got any particular paint to recomend as don't want to be repainting every 3 months.

Smoothrite was my first thought, does it cope with the heat ok?

According to several peeps who recommended it to me for my F650, the heat isn't an issue as it's rated to c. 300C. I remember checking, and it was, but I never did use it. :thumb

I have used it on the inner fins of the cylinders and it stays on ok, it just seems harder to keep clean.

If your really fussy then I would find a laquer that can take the heat and then it will be easier to keep clean.

I've used a Yamaha matt engine paint in an aerosol. Squirt it into the lid, then use a brush to get it where u want it on the fins.Lovely jubbly. :thumb

Thanks Y'all . I'll go with the smoothrite hopefully it will stop the spread of the loose paint. At the moment its only in the out of sight areas
