Hi Guys

I need a new engine for my BMW 1200 GS. The bike is a 2006 and the present engine is totally ruined. While on the M6 last year it dropped a valve on the right hand side, as a result the pistion broke up and got stuck in the barrel sideways.

I am looking for a replacement engine for it, does anybody know of one anywhere?

James

You can contact me on 07931167717 or e-mail me at [email protected]

THANKS

Hi James, You may not need a new engine, just replace the broken bits.
Have tou taken off the RH barrel and had a look at the conrod.
The biggest part of the job is cleaning out the crankcases, really they should be split but you can do it with the engine still in the bike.

The bike is with Church Stretton Motercycles and I am going on their advice and just looking for an engine to make the job quicker. I dont know enough about engines to make that jugdement.

BEWARE - The engine is a stressed component, so a replacement is a major strip down and rebuild of the entire bike. I think:confused:

There seem to be loads of barrels, pistons and cylinder heads on ebay at the moment, surly it would be cheaper just to replace the parts that are broken.

Probably not if he's having to pay the labour costs of the strip, cleanout and rebuild
