Hope someone can help me with this problem,. I recently purchased an enhanced cd which it said would play on a normal cd rom,, I have a dvd rom which I think should not make any difference to the playing ability, never had trouble before. Unfortunately the drive refuses to even recognise that there is a disc there let alone play the damn thing, any ideas?

Is it a Sony CD? Some of them have anti piracy stuff on them that prevents them being played on PC's.

Pointless having the enhanced bit if that's the case so maybe it's not that.

i have also had trouble with enhanced cd's.

i have found that different cd/dvd roms have varying degrees of success at reading copy protected discs too.

not much you can do except try different hardware i think.

i have a Samsung SM348-B 48x48x24x16x CD-RW/DVD Combo similar to this one here, only older and region free.

it reads anything i've tried inc. copy protected stuff.

Is it a SACD (Super Audio CD)?

If it is, and it's not multi-layered, you'll not be able to play it on anything except a SACD player.

If it's multi-layered, you should be able to play it on any regular CD reader.

"enhanced" normally means disc contains some video extras or similar.
