I'm contemplating carrying on my WAW trip and the last night of my projected route will potentially leave me in Ennis. Is it a nice place for a night, a bit dull (which would be fine) or best avoided?

It's fine, but if I were you if you want a bit dull but very nice I would go to Quin, cracking spot a few bars that do food and quiet.

Its a grand town, kids back in school this week and next so will see the flood of tourists wind down. You mentioned the WAW and I would think the towns along that route will be fantastic rather than heading to Ennis if it was an option-Lahinch, Doolin etc.

Just saying, I would stay away from Lahinch and probably Doolin.... You see, we all have our opinions.

If you don't need a town centre...... Woodstock Hotel (or Hotel Woodstock) is about a 5 min drive from Ennis and is a lovely hotel.
