Had my Zumo for 4 months now, when I'm riding along, every few minutes it comes up with " USB connected to wrong port" - I do not have a USB connected and the power supply comes from the BM plug under the oil cooler (2012 R1200 GSA)
Any ideas guy's ?
Cheers
Jake.

The device is 'seeing' the power supply as a PC.

I can create the same message at home by plugging my BlackBerry charger into the 660 instead of Garmin's dedicated charger.

Try cleaning the contacts. 660's are sensitive as to the 'qualility' of the power coming in. A bit of dirt might be enough to drop the voltage / meagre ampage, so triggering the message. Similarly, make sure that the lead in is not split or cracked. Maplin (or summut similar) sell contact cleaner; spray a bit in and use a bit of gentle agitation with a toothpick / blunt end of a needle and a bit of thin cloth or kitchen roll.

I've had this message come up on occasions with both a 550 and 660. In both cases the mount was powered directly from a switched fuse box. This only ever happened after the unit had had a thorough soaking whilst in its mount so I just put it down to water ingress on the pins and the units contacts. The error messages always stopped once the unit/pins had been dried and cleaned up. I give the pins a very occasional dab with ACF50.

Thanks guy's

Will take it off the mount and give it a good clean, I did get soaked for 3 hours coming down the A9 from Inverness a few weeks ago.
