Erzberg Enduro

Just got my entry confirmed for the Erzberg Enduro...

22nd - 25th May Eisenerz, Austria.

It's a Longshot, but if anyone's around that area and they fancy watching or helping pull me and my bike up a few massive gravel hills they'd be more than welcome!!

I've just got 300cc 2 Stroke made by a popular austrian firm who's trademark colour is orange. I can't force myself to say the words...

I'll be driving out a few days before to get there early and have a look at the bits of the course they let you look at and sneaking a look at the bits they don't. Haven't organised van/camper arrangments yet but am working on it.

The qualifying Prologue is Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th, it is 1 run each day up the 'Iron Road', a 10 or 12 minute flat out blast up the wide quarry road.

I think there is another race on this road for the twin cylinder stuff, so Gunner if you want to lend me the HP2....
There is also a FMX comp and an 'arena-type' enduro with man made hazards.

Oh and there is the table sliding comp in the beer tent every night....

As for practicing - god knows where you can practice for that

Got the Erzberg DVD from one of the recent years - that is torturous stuff!
Definately up for a trip out there! Id say it would be a spectacular event to watch.
So Daithi - well done for organising it. Count me and bb1 in. When do you need a deposit?
Where are we staying?
Flights are 49Euro return to Salzburg with Ryanair (add about 250 euro of extras)
Or 15-25euro each way with Aer lingus.

Mind you, would it drive you mad watching all the lunatics on their bikes having fun (or some form of fun) and not being able to have a go?

Well since they've organized PARKING, it would be a shame not to try it out ourselves...
It'd take days to find a space here, we'd probably miss AR14's race.

Thats why it's hiding under a tarp in the garage, but I have to admit when it is uncovered it sure brightens up the place....the future is bright etc....

how are you sorting out transporting the bike out there I have been looking at ferries & travel times etc. & havent come up with a plan yet.
if it ties together are you interested in sharing van's etc. or maybe the orange make wouldnt fit in the van with a x chal

Got a text fro Andrew on Monday to say he was halfway to Erzberg. He'd driven threough the night from Limerick to Dover and was in Belgium by the time he sent me the text at midday.

Got another text off him last night :

Well, so far so good, I've managed 2c a fair bit of the course.
There is security 2 stop u going on the hill, but we sneaked round and had a good look.
2morrow is qualifying 4 enduro-x (an arena enduro near the start) and 1st prologue up the quarry road.
Bikes prepped an we're all in the beer tent !!

Nothing new there so

Just done 1st prologue !
Flat out in 6th up the Iron Road, the 300 was revin' an I think I did alright.
Will get times later.
Just going 4 enduro-x qualifying.
It is mental here, never seen as many bikes an people at 1 event !

Famous Seamus and his travels

Well as the publicity agent of the other paddy "Famous Seamus"
Famous left Tipperary on Tuesday evening for the norfolk ferry to liverpool , he was traveling with his minder "Liam 2 dinners flanagan" every thing went well , until their ferry was cancelled by a dispute with the french dockers , in desperation he then booked on to the euro tunnel , another 200 stg expense and 16 hours lost . Due to the lost time they drove overnight on wed and got to the Erzberg about midday yesterday , and hopefully will get a run up the Mountain today
he seems to be having problems getting info from the organisation , and it seems on the way down there was rationing of Fuel in France due again to the Dockers.

Is that the Prologue or the enduro-x
I presume he gets another run (or 2) to try to qualify or is that 'game over'
And is he doing more than one event
