ESA - Suspension choppy solo, fine 2-up - any ideas???

Have to say i'm not recognising the description most are having with the ESA either. Maybe having just come from a Ducati, anything will seem like a sofa but my bike handles superb and no issues with having to be in luggage or 2 up mode etc.

Same here. Rides superbly, especially in Dynamic mode. Soft ESA setting can be a little bouncy but normal setting is quite plush overall. Out of interest, can anyone conform what year model GS/GSAs were equipped with ESAII?

Wasn't it 17MY my July 17 registered had it. Think it was made in the April.

BMW came back and basically said that as it checks out on the machine they're willing to check it again but there's nothing else to be done...
So, I just had a quick chat with Darren at MCT in Stowmarket (who are very highly thought of in the suspension industry) and to say they're not very impressed with the sachs ESA shock is an understatement. He went into a bit of technical detail about the internals which frankly went over my head, but in a nutshell, the shock's fundamental design is poor with failures seen as low as 5000 miles. MCT are working on a kit to improve/upgrade the Sachs shock and hopefully it will be available by the Spring at significantly less cost than an aftermarket item, so maybe that'll be the way ahead. Frustrating though!
