Had a 05 R1200GS and always felt the suspension very comfortable, in 2008 traded for one of '08 with ESA.

The suspension of '08 despite the convenience of the ESA always found it uncomfortable (confort mode), even now with about 13k miles I still find it very harsh.

My wife loved the 05 and hates the 08 model, argues that it is very uncomfortable and just let me use the comfort mode.

As a reference my weight is about 144 lbs.

Someone has the same experience?

What are the best solutions? change the spring? change the oil? put a better shocks as Ohlins, Wilbers, .. and disable ESA?

Yes you have set the suspension damping .... but on what settings is the spring preload .... that may be set on the "Two up with luggage setting"

The set up procedure is on page 67 in my book.

Experiment with the preload settings - I find the solo rider with luggage comfiest when on my own with the panniers on.

I suspect that if you were to change the suspension over to 'normal' shocks, it would raise quite a few issues.
