Hi

I am going on a long haul trip this june all the way to Sydney. Now I really need to learn a few things before I set off.

Basically is there anyone around in east anglia or essex that could spare some time and teach me how to:

1) Puncture repair
2) change tyres on road
3) give me some general pointers , do and donts about the bike

I got A r1200 Gs

appreciate any help

With Regards

I'd be happy to show you how to do the tyre stuff if you can't find anybody nearer and fancy a ride up.

Can't help much with your choice of bike though. ;)

The chance of a puncture between Essex and Heathrow where you board your QANTAS flight are fairly slim.
Oh you dont mean that sort of long haul to OZ. :augie

Have a safe one and enjoy it.

I know it's not East Anglia, but World of BMW have just started doing a 1 day Adventure Maintenance course in South Wales, which sounds like the sort of thing you're after. It's just up the road from the Off-Road course base. £185 IIRC. :thumb2

Hi Kebabtomten, get yourself a copy of Helge Pedersen's "GlobeRider's BMW R1200GS Adenture Touring Instructional DVD" which is available from Touratech. It shows all you ask and more, demonstrated by one of the world's legendary adventure riders. :thumb2

Good luck!

Hi thanks for all the replies great :)

I have had a look at both the Globerider dvd and the World of BMW.

I am more a hands on type , If I had a computer on route then I would definetly get the dvd.

The BMW training , It cost £195(good price) its only on tuesdays and to far away just for a half day of training.

But I will take on Noddy s offer any day:D:D:D:D

Half a day? I think you've got that wrong. IIRC we started at 09.00 and finished at 16.30 with a 45 min break for lunch. :nenau
