Essex A127

Just thought I'd let those who travel in the South Essex area that SPECS average speed cameras will be fitted along the A127 in the near future.
This will have less of an effect on those on motocycles as the cameras are forward facing normally.
They work the same as the ANPR (automatic numberplate reader), reading the registration plate of passing cars and timing them over the stretch to calculate speed.

If they see the same bike going through repeatedly over the limit, there's nothing to stop them either placing a car/van or even using picture from the oncoming camera to prove the registration number.

They appear to be errecting average speed cameras on the M25 near Brentwood, does anyone have any details on these ?

If you see / go past the first camera, change lanes before you get to the next & then change lanes before getting to the one after that.
Repeat procedure until clear of that set of SPECS.

Readings from the fixed ones are only at their mose accurate on any vehicle if you continue in the same lane.

They often have two cameras covering three lanes, so you would need to cross at least two lanes each time, but I wouldn't like to try it.

I would say along the strech near the pub at wickford east bound as this is normally a summer night meet on a wednesday night for bikers, and boy racers near the mcdonalds as its open 24/6 west bound, so thats another 4 coppers off the road.

the last fatal was 2004 near southend and this end already has a camera in each direction. ( information from bike safe essex.) so they might be fitted basildon end as they have boy racer car meets in the summer around the mcds near the town.

Also they banned the car meet's along the prom at southend on Saturday night's last year and moved them all to Basildon.
