Lost 1200 GS, 2013 LC key. Anyone know what price and process is to get a new one. All the dealers around me are closed today and tomorrow

Which type? Keyless fob or conventional key with passive RFID transponder? If keyless, do you still have the plastic key with passive transponder?

Conventional. Some one has just picked up the plastic key and on his way here.

2 years ago it was £57, they just wanted copies of the log book and ID and then they request from BMW, took a couple of days to come in. I emailed the docs.

When I ordered a spare (2nd) key for my 2014 GSA the mothership wanted proof of my ownership via the BMW dealer before they would supply me with one. I don't remember the key having to be coded to the bike though. IIRC it just worked :thumby:

Thanks for the info. I was getting ready to be pulled over a barrel but seems reasonable.

Ye, phoned them while I was sitting on the beach on Achmelvich waiting for my spare to arrive. Lady was very helpful but said I need to speak to parts tomorrow

Just a question on this. I’ve now had 2 1250s, and neither had anything resembling a second key. Call me old fashioned but I like a backup.
So, question, for 2022 bikes, are they “one key only” bikes?
I still have my old key from the stolen TE, so wonder if that could be reprogrammed to the new one…

Yep I can also state that BMW will want to see your proof of ownership with ID (they allowed me to send it all by email and then posted me the key)

Yes you get one metal BMW key and one of those stupid plastic keys that broke in my pocket.

I like others have had a spare metal key made up from a guy who was absolutely fantastic and does the cutting from a photo!! This allows me to still be able to get in my panniers etc if I loose the master key and use the plastic key for starting.

This is the website and the guys name is Gary

Last week, Pidcocks BMW told me that a replacement keyless ride fob is £228 to you Sir, if that helps.
Supplied ready to go so no hook up to computer to assign key to bike.
An uncoded plain key for the panniers etc is £25 from BMW.

If you're bike is keyless you should have 1 keyless fob and a grey plastic emergency key that you hold against the reciever under the pillion seat should you loose the fob etc. Some have said if you have the fob, but the battery goes flat you can hold it against the receiver the same way you would with the plastic one and it will still start.

If it's a non keyless bike you should have 2 normal keys One with the fancy steel trim on the head and one that's just plain plastic.
