even simpler coms?

all I want to do is to hear what the gps in my phone ( plugged into leccy in my topbox) is saying. So bluetooth but no phone, no pillion coms, no bike to bike. Just the turn instructions. And before anycone comments, I find that I often miss the visual turn signals because I'm watching the traffic

I have been told that some phones output MP4 instructions - certainly my phone gps sound was not picked up by the bluetooth in my car even though phone calls were.

Buy some cheap helmet speakers on Ebay for £7. http://r.ebay.com/xQUYli and just plug them into the phone jack?

If not, I dont know if a bluetooth receiver will power the helmet speakers (some like http://r.ebay.com/R10T9k)

MP4 is a compression algorythm, used for storing data or streaming audio/video. I can't work out any sensible way that a phone would 'output' MP4 GPS instructions. I can't imagine an audio speaker/headset has the necessary to decode MP4. I think all that is wrapped up inside the bluetooth protocols?

I would suspect that if the car audio isn't picking up the GPS prompts over BT, then anything you add the the bike will have the same issue. Suggest you check your phohine settings?

There maybe a setting within the GPS app on your phone to send instructions via Bluetooth or via the jack plug, have you checked?

when I was testing I simply used the google maps app and the phone is a google nexus 4 ( ie an lg phone really). there are no bluetooth settings / sound settings of any sort within maps. and there is nothing in the bluetooth settings which allow or prevent one sort of sound. in short I can see nothing that would stop the directions coming via bluetooth but allow phone calls. I suppose there mighht have been something in the bluetooth at the mercedes end?

when I raised the question elsewhere someone mentioned the Mp4 possibility.
