Anybody got an EVO carb sitting in their shed?

Gathering dust, unloved .....just crying out to be used??:thumb2

Take the opportunity to fit a .....Mmmm.....Fucked if I can remember.....I have one on my evo lump......I even used them in my racing days on Rover 3.9 lumps.....Oh yeah...An SU carb, one of those with an oil reservoir in the top with a little plunger, lovely things they are.

My Evo was converted from FI to an SU carb.....Muchbetter.

I've got 2 of those hung up in the shed.... 2" SU off an old E-Type :thumb2

Mmmm, good but not as good as a properly jetted standard cv carb or a Mikuni/SE flat slide carb. All IMHO of course :D

Haven't heard of SU's being fitted for many a year.

Lovely looking carb and really well suited to the shovel I reckon.

Att, if your bike runs well then you're sorted I'd say. It's just that in my experience SUs weren't easy to get tuned exactly right for EVOs and CVs/Mikunis are a better bet. I wasn't criticising your carb it was more as a 'helpful comment' for Twizzle in case he was tempted in that direction :D

I've also got a pair of SUs that I rescued off a Bond Equipe that my mate was scrapping. This was about 35 yrs ago, I remember taking them off in the dark outside his house in Palmers Green. Can't think why and I've still got 'em :blast

I had an S&S Super 'E' on my 91 FLSTC then transferred it over to my 95 FXDWG

Proper looking air cleaner and the carb ran perfectly straight out of the box :thumb

The seller wasn't a Mr D. Nimrod was it. Rob, check the Glide! :D

Don't forget to put oil in your dashpot

Sorry, it's a Mikuni CV not an SU... I'm rather boringly sticking to a stock set up.

The current set up is Screaming Chicken with K&N filter. The carb has been fecked about with and appears to be causing the lack of "go" in the higher rev range (3.5-4.5k):D

My indie suspects the carb has been "drilled" with the "hole" being too large what ever the fuck that means...:nenau

So, he suggested I hunt one down...

He's fabricating forward controls for me, fitting the carb, new inner bat wing fairing, clutch cable, and sorting out the stripped cover from the timing cone... It's hanging on by a thread......

This is on top of my winter work.... hammerite paint job. :D , welded exhaust, re-packed wheel bearings, new pannier mounting brackets, exhaust shields, remodelled seat.... so, this should conclude the ergonomics and general running issues... I'll see how it all pans out this summer and may go for the full triple black cosmetic job during winter 2013...

I was pondering ...

... a bid on that carb, just to play about as I'm non too familiar with them; glad it went to a good home :thumb
