..., didn't even ask for it to be done, ...

There is no need to ask for it to be done! They change the defective EWS anyway if they have the bikes for the service. But if you don't bring in the bike for the service beeing done, you probably will never get the defective EWS changed.

Because it's up to the dealers to inform their customers.

Exactly.

BMW spokesman Rudolf Probst said literally "about 30 minutes"! How come that you say 1.5 hours?

Autogazette, (German language!)
As I think I said above, my friend broke down in Switzerland and had it fixed by the technician at the dealer where BMW Assist took the bike. They watched and waited and it took about 1.5 (or 1,5 in German) hours.

It involved taking off the handlebars, headstock before the part could be accessed.

Given that BMW probably pay their dealers a flat fee for the work and that they probably want to understate the amount of work, I reckon the spokesman's statement is a bit liberal with the truth.

. BMW is just another company which maximises profit, so do their dealers.

I But I do know about beeing polite. Possibly that is a behaviour that is not known in the UK (I really do not know!)

But I know that beeing polite is known in the rest of the world. And I would guess that the rest of the world would have seen it polite if they were informed by their dealers about the ring antenna problem and then not having a breakdown in holidays.

Errr surely you see the incongruity of your own statements? Business = making profits, not being polite.

Tim, I spent 15 years working with German engineering companies, early on I realised that in German 150.000 = 150,000 in English, and 5,25 = 5.25 they use a . instead of a , for numbers, very confusing for us brits, and most of the rest of the world also.

So Nemisis' article was talking about 150,000 bikes, thats a lot.

Don't worry, I learnt early on that a bottle of wine was 'null comma seben' litres.

It was a gentle wind up.

Tim

I see, of course. What I also see is my human nature: I feel premium prices, but I don't feel premium service. Do you understand what I mean?
