D reg MT500 for sale

Armstrong Mt 500, showing 13255km, first road registered 26th Jan ‘98
I’ve owned this bike since 2015, I bought it to ‘scratch an itch’ as I used to ride one when I worked for Sheffield Ranger Service and it’s been a bit of a ‘rolling restoration’
Lots of work has been done and the highlights are as follows:-

Engine totally rebuilt by Sportax in 2016 including virtually all internals being replaced, (and bike has covered less than 5k since rebuild), full receipt and photos available detailing extent of work completed

Also done, 2016 to present:-

Full stainless exhaust
Brand new dellorto carb from Sportax (properly jetted and now an easy starter)
Stainless upgrade to cam belt rollers
Front and rear brakes totally rebuilt including shoes, cables springs etc,
All new cables throughout
New chain and sprockets,
3 phase conversion with uprated lights
Heavy flywheel conversion,
Full stainless fastners kit
Mt350 bars with brush guards (Originals supplied)
Mt350 rear shocks (slightly longer than Mt500)
Plastic coated racks with replica period bags
Long range petrol tank (original included)
A lot of paperwork, receipts, and military history documents

Probably more stuff that ive forgot…

Fresh 12 month MOT from 26th Feb 2025

The bike has wanted for nothing, but I just don’t have time to ride it and its currently sorned, so after ten years in my possession its time to move it on.
Note that it's kick start only but it's been fully sorted and starts easily hot or cold.
Price is £2500 firm, which is much less than ive spent on it. Bike located in Sheffield

In first instance send me a pm if interested (I have more photos and video but heres a taster...)

Mmmm - I do like that!
Had one back in the day, white ex Sheffield Parks dept I think.
Had a Sportex stage 2 head on it and some other mods I can’t recall (carb perhaps?)
Started fine when cold but absolute bastard when hot - often had to find a hill to bump it down.

Thanks for the comments..I worked on the Sheffield Park Patrol for almost ten years, hence buying this bike.

I can confirm that my bike doesn't have any of the starting problems that plagued the original bikes, easy starting hot or cold.
Cheers

Also have an affection for these and the HD 350 version would be worth advertising on the MT Riders forum. Out of interest was the bike still white when you got it I regularly saw a white one around the roads of S7/8 a few years ago

Good to meet you yesterday Simon. The bike is exactly as described - many thanks. It was good to give the Defender a run out and finally use the Motolug trailer I bought off here last year. Cheers Mick.
